Why Value Consulting?
Dozens of CSOs, NGOs and Social enterprises are registered every day. These organisations are registered in response to the broad multiple issues arising in the country. The number, breadth and depth of these organisations have grown significantly in recent years and will continue to grow.
Unfortunately these organisations struggle for survival despite impacting various communities they serve. These organisations are created with good intentions only to discover that they lack the capacity to effectively design and develop impact projects, enter into fruitful and sustainable partnerships, raise funds for projects and measure and improve their impact.
Stories of wasted money and dead aid have been told repeatedly. Millions of Naira is spent each year by social organisations with the explicit intention to make positive impacts yet majority of these funds are squandered. Yes some is through waste and corruption, and that should be eliminated. However, much is squandered by well-intentioned yet failed attempts to deliver social impact.
Those donating and investing in social organisations are reasonably asking for more accountability for invested resources – as are beneficiaries and vulnerable communities that have significant unmet needs. For their part, donors rarely investigate how effectively their money is spent. The research done is more about efficiency rather than impacts. Therefore social organisations that are able to prove their effectiveness may not attract more capital than those that cannot.
Nigeria needs the resources of social organisations now more than ever but these resources must be employed in the smartest and most impactful way possible. It is therefore important we have capacity building mechanisms in place that will enable these social organisations survive, thrive, replicate and become sustainable. This is the reason why EESF value consulting arm was created.
Our Approach
The value consulting model is a uniquely designed model that empowers and equips social organisations for better and sustained value and impact. We position our clients to see development space as a partnership value chain where everyone including beneficiaries of their impact, volunteers, team, donors and investors are regarded as extremely important partners. This consciousness shifts the mind-set of social organisation from seeing themselves as people in need to people with assets that have to be traded for the resources they need to achieve sustained impact.
At the end of our training program, we expect our clients to be able:
- To identify and develop assets that will enable them enter into fruitful partnerships with beneficiaries, volunteers, donors and investors
- Design and develop partnership projects with beneficiaries of their impact, volunteers, donors and investors
- Define their brand and effectively communicate that brand to the world
- Develop alternative and innovative fund raising approach for sustained impact
- Monitor, evaluate and improve their partnership relationships and project
Our Differentiating Factor
We are not just speaking as experts; we are also speaking as an organisation that has faced these challenges. Over the years, we have battled and struggled with partnerships, branding, positioning and funding gaps. We have made several mistakes that threatened to take us out of impact existence.
The approaches we teach are what helped us move from an organisation on the brink struggling to achieve its impact dreams to an organisation in several states, with national, public, private and international partnerships as well as a poll of professional team and eager volunteers willing and ready to work with us.
We therefore come with an unparalled level of empathy and understanding of your dreams, needs and struggles as a social organisation with solutions that have been pilot tested and field tested.
We have a tested model that has been replicated in other organisations like SWIM, University of Abuja Law Clinic, and House committee on civil societies and development partners. If it worked for us and organisations like yours, it will definitely work for you.
